Peewee Longway Claims He Started “Dab” and “Pipe It Up,” Offset of Migos Responds

Looks like Migos have responded to Peewee.

Uh oh. Beef is brewing in Atlanta after Peewee Longway tweeted about being the first to say terms like "piped it up" and "dab" - terms Migos have used quite a lot in the past year.

The Migos as a collective have stayed silent since Peewee fired off the tweet this morning (May 24), but Offset couldn't restrain himself, taking to Instagram with this response: "CLAIMING WORDS AINT HELPING CAREERS OR CLAIMING DA DAB SHIIT LAME MAKE A HIT NIGGA.

Fans of either of these artists can't be happy. They've collaborated in the past with songs like "Came In" and "She Know It," but it looks like that may not be happening any more.

Peewee's had a terrific, if somewhat underrated, 2016 so far thanks to his January release of Mr. Blue Benjamin, which XXL handpicked as one of the best early projects of the year. Weeks later, LL Cool J went on the radio and said he was a big fan of Peewee, which took hip-hop heads for a surprise, albeit a pleasant one.

Migos have also been putting out a steady stream of consistent music, between "Say Sum" and "Cocoon." No Label 3 is expected to be dropping soon.

But nonetheless, it's disheartening to see two acts so essential to the New Atlanta scene go at each other like this. Sure, it can't always be all friendly daps and hugs, but Peewee and Migos are key landmarks of Atlanta's boom in the past couple years. Hopefully they patch up their differences and get to making music together again.
