I've heard of a "sugar high", but this is ridiculous.

Now, I'm not trying to give anyone any funny ideas. I'm just telling it like it is: people have clearly gone insane. I mean, who in their right mind would waste perfectly good chocolate by sniffing it?

Ok, fine, I know people aren't actually shoving chocolate bars up their nose, but you can still bake some delicious chocolate treats using cocoa powder, so putting it anywhere other than your tummy seems silly. But, according to alternet.org, people have been using cocoa to achieve an "energetic high". Party goers can pop cocoa pills, snort the powder, or kick it old school and drink it .

You're probably thinking "Oh man, these crazy kids will put anything up their noses," but this whole "getting high off coca powder" thing didn't just happen by chance. Belgian chocolatier Dominique Persoone actually invented the “chocolate shooter" to help users “get a few [milligrams] of our cocoa spice catapulted directly into both nasal cavities". What? Who thinks of something like that?

I know that, when compared to other powdered substances, it seems like shoving raw cocoa up your nose wouldn't be the worst thing you could do, but according to Dr. Jordan Josephson, the cocoa is perceived by the nose as a foreign toxic substance and is not safe. He told LiveScience "Putting any foreign bodies [in the nasal cavity]—including smoke, cocaine and/or chocolate powder—is not safe and is not advised.”

So there you have it. Keep chocolate out of your nose! And let's be real, no one needs another reason to be tempted to try their boogers. Don't lie, chocolate covered boogies sound a little enticing.
