Science says it has figured out the best route for you to take if you want to go on the perfect road trip.

Discovery News teamed up with Randy Olson—a doctoral candidate at Michigan State— and came up with a route that takes you through all 48 continental United States, and along the way you get to see some of the best sights that America has to offer.

The route also allows you to start the route at any point. So start at the point in your state, and go until you get back.

It's a bit of a bummer that the route barely gets into Louisiana before it heads north to Mississippi, then Arkansas and so on. Anyone on a road trip looking for the unique culture America has to offer should definitely venture down the I-10 corridor through Baton Rouge, before heading back north through Cajun Country on I-49.

I'm not knocking Mississippi or Arkansas—and by all means, the trip can still head that way—but is there anything in that stretch that compares to "real" cajun food in Acadiana? Where else can you experience anything like a Saturday morning at Fred's in Mamou? Is there anything that can compare to the boudin balls at Billy's?

Again, not being a hater—but who wouldn't want to experience one of our numerous music festivals, or at least check out one of the only remaining Popeyes buffets in the country?

Luckily, we get to experience Acadiana, and all the I-10 corridor has to offer on a daily basis, so I guess this map would be the perfect road trip for anyone from here after all.
