Pitbull Sends Private Plane to Puerto Rico to Help Cancer Patients After Hurricane Maria

A little over a week ago, Hurricane Maria swept through Puerto Rico and surrounding islands, bringing an enormous amount of destruction along with it. In the days following the peak of the storm, a massive number of people living in Puerto Rico were left without power—including cancer patients requiring electricity to continue their chemo therapy. Luckily, Pitbull has lent a helping hand.

According to the New York Daily News, the award-winning Miami-bred musician sent a private plane to Puerto Rico to take cancer patients to the United States so they could have access to chemo treatment.  “Thank God we’re blessed to help. Just doing my part,”  he told the outlet on Tuesday (Sept. 26).

Pitbull, who dropped his Ty Dolla $ign-assisted single, "Better on Me" earlier this year, has become known as Mr. Worldwide over the course of his career. With an infectious blend of hip-hop, reggaeton and pop, it's easy to see why. But his humanitarian efforts have probably played a role in the name sticking for other reasons, too.

Back when Hurricane Irma was at its peak, Pitbull also brought attention to the plight of Florida residents. At least a few of his Instagram posts directed attention at donation sites for victims of the recent storms. Salute to Pitbull.
