A police officer in Kentucky is suing an outdoors sporting goods store after he shot off a finger while shopping for a handgun.

The former police officer went into a sporting goods store and while handling a pistol, pulled the trigger and shot off a finger. The former officer says that he was not aware of the gun being loaded, and that the store put himself and others in danger by handing him a loaded weapon.

The officer says that due to the injuries on his hand, he is unable to return to work and that he has not received funds from his employer since the incident, which happened in March of 2014.

The lawyer for the former police officer hopes to take this case to trial and let a jury hear the case. What do you think about this scary incident? Was the store wrong for handing this man a loaded gun or should the officer had not been "playing" with the gun?
