Popeye's chicken seems to be the good luck charm of the New Orleans Saints. Well, after the Saints victory last Saturday night in Philly, Popeyes reported a 23147% increase in sales!!

According to welovanola, some Popeyes restaurants in Kenner ran out of chicken and other items on their menu after the game Saturday night, and at times there were 30-40 cars deep waiting at the drive thru.

Some say that Popeye's chicken may just be a good luck charm. One person admitted to buying some chicken the night before a job interview in hopes that like the Saints, it would bring him good luck too.

If you recall, during the Saints Super Bowl run back in 2009, Coach Payton ordered that Popeyes chicken be placed at the locker room door during away games. Prior to this past Saturday night in Philly, the Saints abandoned the good luck charm, but brought it back prior to the NFC Wild Card Game in Philly.

Now, it appears that other professional sports teams are taking up the good luck charm. There are reports out that indicate that some NBA teams are putting Popeyes chicken in their lockerooms. There is even a report out that suggests that the Saints opponent this weekend, Seattle Seahawks, are considering putting Popeyes in their lockeroom this weekend. Only, it won't be chicken, but shrimp poboys awaiting the team.

What I'd like to know is if the Popeyes buffet on Pinhook Rd. in Lafayette ran out of chicken on their buffet line. We have one of the only Popeyes locations in the COUNTRY to have a buffet, and if I had to bet they were reloading the buffet on Sunday and Monday following the game.

In New Orleans, some restaurants were reporting 30 and 40 car lines in their drive thrus. One establishment in Kenner ran out of chicken and most of the menu and were just serving cajun rice and strawberry Fanta. - See more at: http://www.welovenola.com/2014/01/05/popeyes-chicken-reports-23147-sales-increase-after-saints-win/#sthash.45yjwjEx.dpuf
