Looks like the UL Ragin Cajuns have a tough contest on Saturday, September 14th  2014!  Head Coach Mark Hudspeth announced today, that his Ragin Cajuns travel to Oxford, Miss. to face the Ole Miss Rebels.

“Ole Miss is a program that I am very familiar with and the whole Ragin’ Cajuns program is looking forward to playing again,” Hudspeth said.

“This game will give us the ability to continue to receive more national recognition, especially considering the exposure that this game will most likely receive as part of the SEC television package,” Hudspeth added.

The game is part of a one-game agreement with the Rebels. UL will receive a $925,000 payment for playing in the contest.

This will be the fourth meeting between UL and Ole Miss with the Rebels owning a 3-0 lead in the all-time series. All three previous meetings have been played in Oxford, Miss.

The series started in 1986 when a furious Cajuns rally fell yards short as Ole Miss snuck away with a 21-20 win. UL trailed 21-6 in the game before putting up 14 points in the fourth quarter. After recovering an onside kick with just over a minute to play, a 59-yard field goal as time expired fell just short.

The rematch in 1987 had the Rebels claiming a 24-14 decision.

The series was idle until the 2010 season when UL fell at Mississippi, 43-21, on Nov. 6.
