The current radar scan from the National Weather Service in Lake Charles is suggesting what Dave Baker already told you. It's going to rain today. Currently showers and thunderstorms are moving rather quickly from west to east out of Texas into Louisiana.

Showers and thunderstorms have already started to form along a stalled frontal boundary along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. This system will be the catalyst for rainfall amounts anywhere from 1-3 inches along the I-10 corridor today.

The Storm Prediction Center is forecasting this to be a severe weather event. However some of the showers and thunderstorms could produce very heavy rainfall in a short period of time. These sudden downpours could create some short lived street flooding for roadways in low lying areas.

The current forecast models are suggesting that most of the rainfall should move out the area by the afternoon hours. However, the clouds will remain across the area into Thursday morning. The outlook for Friday is much better with an area of drier air expected to move into the region.
