A couple of weather systems currently moving across Texas are expected to combine and become one system during the day today. This will mean an increased threat of showers and thunderstorms across South Louisiana.

The Storm Prediction Center is suggesting the threat of severe weather in our area is not that strong. There is only a marginal probability that a storm or two connected with this system could reach severe limits. The greatest threat for severe weather will be across northern Mississippi.

The current radar scan from the National Weather Service in Lake Charles indicates where the current activity is located. For much of the day today the threat of rain will infringe upon outside plans. The good news is that the timing of these weather systems should have most of the rain moved out of the area by later this afternoon.

The official outlook from the National Weather Service suggests that skies will begin to clear late this afternoon and early this evening. Good Friday should be perfect for any family or church related activities you might have planned.

The forecast for Easter Sunday is not so good. Right now forecasters have posted at least at 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms beginning late Saturday night and through the day on Sunday. That rain should be ending by early Sunday evening.
