One week before the NFL trade deadline, the New Orleans Saints are sending two draft picks to the New York Giants for cornerback Eli Apple, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Per Schefter, the Saints are sending New York their 2019 4th round pick and 2020 7th round pick in exchange for Apple.

Apple was selected in the 2017 NFL draft 10th overall out of Ohio State.

In 3 seasons with the Giants, Apple has not lived up to his 1st round status.

He served as the team's nickle back for the bulk of his rookie season before becoming the starting outside cornerback.

For his career, he's accumulated 100 tackles, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble.

He was suspended by the Giants for the season finale in 2017 for a continued patter of conduct detrimental to the club.

His now former teammate Landon Collins called him a "cancer" to the team in an ESPN Radio interview last season.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reported last December that Apple's days with the Giants were likely done.
