Varying reports say that Herman has either accepted an offer from LSU, or that the two sides are indeed close to a deal.
ESPN is reporting that a deal between Herman and LSU could be in place by Saturday. LSU has released a statement, saying no decision has been made.

The 41-year old Herman is 22-3 with Houston in his two seasons there, including a win over Florida St. in last year's Peach Bowl.

A former graduate assistant at Texas, Herman was considered by many to be the Longhorns' first choice if Charlie Strong was let go there.

If Herman does indeed get the job, he would replace Les Miles, who went 114-34 during his tenure at LSU, including a national title.
