Sam Smith and John Legend have teamed up for a good cause, and their duet of 'Lay Me Down' is sweet music to our ears.

They are from two different sides of the pond, but U.K. crooner Sam Smith and soulful American singer/songwriter John Legend joined forces to support the charity Comic Relief with a new recording of Smith's latest single "Lay Me Down."

The recording has been designated as the official Red Nose Day single by Comic Relief and is available now at all digital retailers. Since 1985, Comic Relief has raised over a billion dollars in an effort to change the lives of poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged people across the U.K. and Africa.

Smith was very proud to have his recording be a part of the charity.

I recently visited a Comic Relief funded project in my home town, which supports the young LGBT community in London. I’m extremely proud that my single will help raise money for projects like this and many others in the U.K. and across Africa.

The official video shows behind the scenes clips of Smith and Legend in the studio, and the duo will perform the song for the first and only time this Friday (March 13) on Comic Relief-Face The Funny, broadcast live from the Palladium in London on BBC One.

Both Sam Smith and John Legend will forgo any royalties, donating 100% of the song's profits to Comic Relief.

We're just hoping to see these two team up in the studio again soon.
