Sam Smith may be a burgeoning artist, but he's already made a fan out of Mary J. Blige. The two recently joined forces to record a new version of Smith's single, 'Stay With Me.'

The song delves into a one night stand and what happens when feelings begin to develop after the hook up. Like Blige, Smith has been known to release emotionally honest ballads. On this song, he has a way of bringing the listener back to a moment of unrequited love.

Smith and Blige coming together on the track makes for an even powerful listening experience, which is just as heartbreaking as the original he released in March. Not only do their voices blend well together, the singers wear their hearts on their sleeves while belting it out on those high notes.

This isn't the first time that Smith and Blige have gotten together. The two were special guest performers alongside U.K. electronic duo Disclosure during their show at New York's Terminal 5 in January. While we're not sure when they actually started working together, they both had nothing but kind words for each other.

“I’m so honored to have had the chance to work with Sam Smith,” Blige said in a statement. “Sam’s true soulful voice... is the first of this kind I have heard since Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson and all the great soulful male voices from the ‘80s. I’m completely blown away by his talent, soul and the sincerity.”

Meanwhile, Smith calls his studio session with Blige one of his biggest highlights thus far. "I remember holding her album in my hands in the car when I was a young boy, to meet your idols is a magical thing, but to work with them is truly a dream come true,” he revealed.
