This past 4th of July, BBQ pits across Acadiana got quite a work out as we all celebrated our Nation's birthday. As a result, the next time you get ready to fire it up you're probably going to need to clean the grill on your pit. Could the best cleaner for your grill really be as simple as rubbing an onion on it?

As you'll see in the video below, legend has it that all you need to do is get the grill hot,  then stick half of an onion on a fork and simply rub it all over the grill. It will reportedly clean all of the gunk from the grill.

I like this because it's simple, safe, it seasons the grill a little bit and when you're done, you can just toss it on the coals for a smokey onion flavor.

I don't like because, well I don't know if it really works.

Have you ever cleaned your grill with an onion? Does it work, or it just a pile of bologna?
