Skrillex has been credited as the driving force behind Justin Bieber's massive sonic shift -- the one that garnered him mass appeal on an even wider level and somehow boosted his already immense fan base. But despite being criticized by Deadmau5, -- who's upset Skrillex "allowed himself to be a goddamn tool for someone else” -- for his decision to work with the pop star, Skrillex maintains he has zero regrets.

"If [Deadmau5] was a real friend, he would come to me and be like, 'Yo, you shouldn't be working for Justin Bieber,' rather than blowing it up all over the Internet and going out of his way to make people feel wrong for making a choice in their life," Skrillex said in an interview with Rolling Stone.

"And I would say to him, 'I enjoy working with Justin Bieber!' I'm a fan of his voice," he continued. "And if you're a producer and you get an opportunity to work with someone who's the biggest artist in the world – for better or for worse – what would you say? Would you say no?"

Deadmau5 spent much of 2015 attacking Skrillex and Bieber, choosing to first focus in on the Jack U and Bieber collaboration “Where Are U Now?” He referred to the track as having “sh—ty f—ing 3rd grade production and autotuned ‘singing’ bulls—t" during a radio interview.

Skrillex eventually hit back, saying, "I’ll always have love for Joel, because he’s put me on at an early time (in his career). But he’s an asshole. And everyone knows that, he knows that. I think that’s kinda his thing. The one thing that is unfortunate about it is he has a record label and when you have a record label you’ve got to be a leader and he has people that are signed to him. I couldn’t imagine being a leader, going out [with] a public image being such a negative attitude. I think his attitude has changed over the last couple of years. I don’t take it personally, I feel worse for him.”

Deadmau5 has yet to respond to Skrillex's Rolling Stone quotes, but he did go after Kylie Jenner when a rumor claiming she'd soon be making her DJ debut hit the web. (She quickly debunked it, hours later.)
