‘Soul Train’ Creator Don Cornelius Found Dead, Apparent Suicide
The man that is famously known for love, peace and souuuuul, was found dead this morning at his Sherman Oaks, CA residence. According to TMZ, the body of music/television icon Don Cornelius was discovered by police around 4AM PT this morning and rushed to the hospital here he was pronounced dead. By the looks of what officials describe as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, the cause of death is believed to be a suicide.
Cornelius brought never-before-seen excitement to television in 1971 with 'Soul Train', and the show ran all the way up until 2006 featuring performances some of the best music acts of all time, the "Soul Train Scramble Board", but known mostly for it's "Soul Train dance line", where people would take turns showing off their moves between two lines of party-goers.
The 'Soul Train' host/creator battled many health problems over the last few years, as well as a bitter divorce surrounding numerous domestic issues. Don Cornelius was 75.
