A new article from Consumer Reports recommends people stay away from romaine lettuce until health officials in the U.S. and Canada sort out an E. coli outbreak. One person has died and 58 people have been sickened in the U.S. and Canada so far. None of them in Louisiana. Officials have not confirmed that romaine lettuce is the actual cause here in the United States, but it has been verified as the source in Canada. Because lettuce is almost always consumed raw, experts believe to be safe, you should avoid eating it.
