Sun Belt Conference Softball Tournament Bracket Is Set

The 10th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns draw an opening day bye, as the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Postseason Tournament begins on Wednesday in San Marcos, Texas.

Louisiana, who finished the regular season at 37-8, overall, and 20-3 in league play, captured their 13th regular season conference title in the last 15 years.

The Cajuns will play their first game in the tournament on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, against either Troy, Georgia St., or Georgia Southern.

South Alabama, the second-seed, also draws a bye on opening day, which will be single elimination, before double-elimination play begins on Thursday.

Again, the tournament gets underway on Wednesday with an opening round contest between 5th-seeded Georgia St. (35-20, 14-10) and 8th-seeded Georgia Southern (12-38, 4-20) at 10 am, followed by 6th-seeded ULM (28-20, 10-12) and 7th-seeded UT Arlington (27-27, 8-15) at 12:30 pm.

Awaiting the winners of those games will be the 3rd-seeded Texas St. (32-20, 14-6) and 4th-seeded Troy (32-22, 14-9) in the quarterfinals. Troy takes on the Georgia St./Georgia Southern winner at 3 pm, while Texas St. faces the ULM-UT-Arlington winner at 5:30 pm.

The winners of Wednesday's single-elimination games advance to meet the top two seeds, No. 1 Louisiana and No. 2 South Alabama (35-10, 16-4), in double-elimination play beginning on Thursday.

The finals, which will be a one game, winner-take-all, are set fro Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
