William Broussard has now been charged for his alleged role in two of the four shootings that took place in Lafayette on Friday.

It began around 10:30 a.m. On Gillman Street, which is near Happiness Street, the scene of another shooting on Wednesday. After multiple gunshots were fired in the 1100 block of North St. Antoine Street, a shot was fired in the area of Carver and Foote and a man was shot at a business in the 900 block of West Simcoe Street, it had Lafayette Police wondering if all the shootings were related.

All told, so far, we know that Broussard has been charged with his 2nd count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder for the shootings on West Simcoe Street and on North St. Antoine Street. In the West Simcoe Street shooting, he's accused of approaching the victim inside the business and shooting him with a pistol. That victim is in serious but stable condition. In the North St. Antoine Street shooting, Broussard is accused of shooting two people, who are each in serious but stable condition.

In the Gillman Street shooting, the victim who died has been identified as 22-year-old Dwayne Batiste Jr. of Lafayette. He was found dead inside a white pickup truck at the scene.

In the incident at Carver and Foote, no injuries were reported.

Lafayette Police continue to investigate and narrow down the connections, if there are more, among the four shootings. Anyone with information about the shootings or the identity of the suspect(s) is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
