In Saturday's R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl there were a few Sports Center worthy plays. One did make Sunday's Top 10 Plays of the Day on Sports Center. It was Darryl Surgent's one-handed 4th quarter catch down the sideline.
December 19, 2011 On Saturday December 17th history was made in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin Cajuns won their first ever bowl game as they defeated the San Diego State Aztecs 32-3o in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
December 16, 2011 In preparation of the New Orleans Bowl on Saturday Dec. 17th, the "Pride Of Acadiana" Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Fans from UL have taken over the French Quarter in New Orleans. UL and it's fans have waited for this type celebration for decades, and it has finally arrived. The Cajuns will make their first bowl appearance in over 40 years when the take on San Diego State University this weekend, and the fans from UL are taking it all in. Hundreds of eager UL Ragin Cajun fans packed the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility Monday night to hear the announcement they have been waiting for. That announcement, that the UL Ragin Cajuns would be participating in The New Orleans Bowl on December 17th inside the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
What a great season for the Ragin Cajun football team, we're undefeated at home this year and headed into the final game against Arizona at 8 and 3! Along with the Cajuns success in 2011, the season will not not be over after Saturday's game against Arizona.....It's time to go BOWLING!! The Cajuns defeated ULM 36-35 in an amazing fourth quarter comeback.
