Superstorm Sandy has caused a lot of damage. People have died, homes have been destroyed, businesses have been ruined. Americans across the country are reaching out by donating money, time, food, and clothing, but they're also reaching out with message of hope in the blog NOLA To New York.

There have been a lot of awful or inspiring stories coming out of Hurricane Sandy. This manages to be both. A man found a note in his house scrawled by a person who had taken a blanket to keep hypothermia at bay. The author of the note was sure he was dying.

While many people took to Facebook bragging about how much booze they stockpiled and how Hurricane Sandy wasn't very strong at all, the following heartbreaking scenes were happening in other places. Truthfully, we missed most of Hurricane Sandy, the storm that rocked most of the East Coast, yesterday. Because we were inside ... away from the windows, with our curtains closed ... like we were supposed to be. This morning, much of the East Coast is picking up the pieces after the massive storm known as Hurricane Sandy swept through, leaving millions without power, causing untold economic damage, and killing at least 21 people. Flooding caused largely by enormous, unprecedented storm surges has crippled transportation routes and wreaked havoc on low-lying areas.

As predicted, Hurricane Sandy created one crazy night. Millions without power, explosions, flooding and at least 18 people dead.
