Following up on the news we reported about remains found in Evangeline Parish earlier today, Cpl. Paul Mouton formally addressed the media as the body they believe to be Mickey Shunick was transported from the scene (pictured above) by the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office.
According to a story in the Daily Advertiser, the search for the missing 22-year-old UL Student, Mickey Shunick, is still underway and it now appears that the search has extended beyond the state boundaries of Louisiana. The Lafayette paper says that since the arrest of Brandon Scott Lavergne, more tips are coming in from people who know the man accused of taking Shunick.
Today's press conference in relation to the recent arrest connected to the disappearance of Mickey Shunick confirmed a lot of information firsthand from the Lafayette Police Department, but still left a lot of questions unanswered. According to Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft, the reason some questions remain unanswered is to avoid hindering the investigation that is still currently ongoing.
After weeks of little to no development in the case of missing Lafayette girl Mickey Shunick, Lafayette Police confirmed today that they have made an arrest in connection with the case, but there will be no further comments at this time. According to KPEL 96.5, Corporal Paul Mouton announced at a press conference today, new information on the Shunick case as well as the arrest made in conjunction with the multi-jurisdiction task force.

The Lafayette Police Department and members of the Lafayette community are mourning the loss of Officer Joel Grayson. Saturday afternoon while boating in Livingston Parish, Officer Grayson was involved in a boating accident that took his life.
According to KATC TV-3, The Lafayette Police have ruled out two of the three vehicles of interest in the case of missing 22-year-old Mickey Shunick. The Lafayette girl was last seen on video surveillance cameras near University and St. Landry streets in the early morning hours of May 19th. In addition to Shunick being identified in that area on May 19th, Lafayette Police identified three vehicles of interest in the same area around the time Shunick went missing.
Lafayette PD held a presser earlier today and confirmed that the bike belonging to Mickey Shunick that was found Saturday under the Whiskey Bay exit on I-10 had damage to the rear wheel/tire. Cpl. Paul Mouton stressed that even though damage to Mickey's bike may initially trigger assumptions of her being hit from behind, they "do not know that for a hundred percent that that's where that damage came from."
