The social media website, which celebrities and athletes absolutely love, is reflecting back on the year 2011.
In the days before the internet, people who were rude to waitstaff and/or didn’t tip properly could go about their shameful lives in relative obscurity.
Welcome to 2011. The rules, they have changed.
A study by technology research firm Gartner, which recently surveyed 6,295 people between the ages of 13 and 74, reveals almost a quarter of 18- to 29-year-olds use social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter less than when they first signed up for the services, with many saying the services simply aren’t that much fun anymore.
“The trend shows some social media fatigue among early adopters,” says Brian Blau, research director at Gartner. “And the fact that 31 percent of younger consumers indicated that they were getting bored with their social network is a situation that social media providers should monitor, as they will need to innovate and diversify to keep consumer attention.”
While we may all think that the world is addicted to social media sites like twitter and facebook, that may not be so!! In a new study, one in four young people are bored with social media sites.
Across the country, you see this everyday. People are constantly checking their smartphones for e-mail, twitter, and facebook updates. With that said, has the Fear Of Missing Out, FOMO, gotten the best of you? Do you have to constantly keep-up with the social media sites, and do you feel the urge to know what is happening all of the time?
We have all either seen or taken an embarrassing photo once or twice in our life, and it ends up on your facebook page. For many while it may be a"joke," for others it may be costly when it comes to getting a job you'd really like to have. Reason being, the Federal Trade Commission has ruled that agencies are allowed to search your facebook when it comes to background checks for potential employers.
It has been happening more and more lately. Students getting in trouble at school, for what they do on Facebook. One of the recent stories comes out of California where 15 yr old Donny Tobolski made a status update on his home computer calling his biology teacher:
