The Saints met with their former tight end and eventually came to an agreement on a one-year deal.

Benjamin Watson played for the Saints from 2013-15. He enjoyed his best NFL season with Brees and the gang in 2015 racking up 74 receptions for 825 yards and six touchdowns.

Watson signed a two-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens in 2016, although he missed his first season there with a torn achilles. He bounced back in 2017, recording 522 yards on 61 receptions.

The trusty tight end comes back to a Saints team that is poised for another playoff run.

Even with a seemingly deep tight end core, It looks like the Saints know they're lacking on something in that area. Previously they tried to bring back Jimmy Graham into the fold, but he eventually signed with the Green Bay Packers.

The 38-year-old Watson is entering his 15th NFL season. He was a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2017. His wife, Kirsten Vaughn Watson, grew up in Baton Rouge.
