Technical Issues Halt Drake’s Tour in Philadelphia

After a successful launch Friday night (Oct. 18) in Pittsburgh, Pa., Drake‘s ‘Would You Like a Tour?’ has hit a snag. Drizzy canceled his Philadelphia gig less than an hour before the show was going to start.

According to Philly.com, concertgoers were already seated at the Wells Fargo Center (formerly the Wachovia Center) when a rep announced that the concert, which also features Future and Miguel, has been postponed.

A Wells Fargo Center spokeswoman, Rebecca Goodman, released the following statement:

“Due to the elaborate nature of tonight’s show and an unexpected technical issue, Drake’s ‘Would You Like aTour’ concert at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia has been postponed until Wednesday, December 18.”

According to Philly’s 107.9, a technical glitch involving a circular “catwalk” that hovers over the floor seats was deemed unsafe.

And while it’s usual for a show to get canceled after opening its doors, we would have to say that postponing the concert was a wise move to insure the safety of the attendees.

However, fans began to vent their disappointment via Twitter shortly after the cancellation.

Meanwhile, tour opener Miguel turned a bad situation into a positive by performing an impromptu show at a local club in Philly.

The ‘Adorn’ crooner, backed by a drummer and guitarist, entertained about 100 people at a bar called Ortliebs Lounge in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia.

Props to Miguel for showing some “brotherly love” back to the city in lieu of the circumstances.

Drake’s next concert stop is in Montreal on Oct. 21.
