A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper is being sent to counseling for taking a picture with Snoop Dogg at the South by Southwest Festival.

Trooper Billy Spears, a 30-year veteran of the department, was working security the night Snoop was a keynote speaker and after Snoop's speech he asked the trooper to take a photo with him. What Spears did not know was that the photo with the famous rapper would be looked down upon by his department.

Once DPS saw the photo on Instagram, they immediately decided to discipline the trooper because they say he took a photo "with a known criminal." Spears' attorney claims that the trooper did not even know who was Snoop was when his publicist took the picture.

Spears' attorney claims that DPS is picking on his client because Trooper Spears reported an officer from a different agency for misconduct.

Spears' lawyer says he emailed Snoop's publicist about the incident, but has not heard back from them and he is considering filing a lawsuit against DPS. Does he have a case? Let us know what you think about this in the comment section below.
