This is one of the busiest travel weeks in America. The desire to get home for Thanksgiving dinner will see millions of Americans on the road over the next several days. Whenever there are a lot of people traveling there are concerns about how the weather will affect that travel.

Travelers looking to get an early jump on their Thanksgiving plans might encounter some weather-related issues later this afternoon and early evening. A cold front is currently pushing into South Louisiana and that is expected to kick off showers and thunderstorms.

The Storm Prediction Center is not anticipating any severe weather later today and into tonight but there is a marginal threat for thunderstorms for almost all of South Louisiana.

Those waiting until Wednesday to hit the road might also have to deal with weather issues on the roadways. Forecasters believe that the better chance of showers and thunderstorms will likely happen in the nighttime hours. As of now, the timing on the forecast suggests that most of the precipitation should be out South Louisiana by Thursday morning.

Black Friday shoppers shouldn't have too many weather issues to deal with in the wee small hours of the first moments of holiday shopping on Friday. Skies for Friday should be cloudy and there will be a slight threat of rain but there shouldn't be any strong storms or extremely cold temperatures like we've experienced in the past.
