According to a 2014 study from professors at Harvard and the Vancouver School, the happiest cities in the United States are all in one place... yeah, that's right, Louisiana!

The study was done using data from a "scientific-y" CDC survey called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. I'm not sure what any of that means, but News.Mic stated that information was pulled from age, sex, race, and income, as well as other factors, to determine the level of happiness of each city in America. The study aimed to find out "why many 'unhappy' cities were still seeing population growth. If living in such miserable places is so terrible, why do people migrate to them?". But, by finding some of the countries unhappiest cities, they also found the happiest cities in America and the top five just happen to be in Louisiana.

According to the study Lafayette, Houma, Shreveport-Bossier City, Baton Rouge and Alexandria are the happiest cities in America, with Lafayette being the #1 happiest! The News.Mic article makes it sound like everyone should be shocked that Louisiana is such a happy place to live, but to me, it sounds spot on. It's no secret that we know how to have a good time, not to mention Louisiana is beautiful, has an abundance of culture, amazing food, friendly people, and flourishing cities. Yeah, I'd say we have plenty of reasons to be happy!

Check out the full study and what other cities made the list on the News. Mic website.
