Halloween is a time for spooky fun, costumes and candy, but if you're a child with food allergies it kind of puts a damper on the whole "candy" aspect of the holiday. Which is why the "Teal Pumpkin Project" is so wonderful!

The "Teal Pumpkin Project" is a nationwide initiative started by the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) group to raise awareness about food allergies and to promote the inclusion of all trick-or-treaters. The teal pumpkin displayed outside of houses let's kids and parents know that that house has alternatives to candy, like stickers, pencils, or small toys. So, if you plan on having non-food alternatives for the kiddo's this Halloween make sure you grab a pumpkin and some teal paint!

For fun trick-or-treating alternatives, idea, and information on the "Teal Pumpkin Project" head over to the KPLC website.
