The Weeknd has shared a snippet of new music on his Instagram today (Aug. 24) and you can hear it above. He's wailing into the abyss, just like we love him to do. Hopefully this means new music is on the way from the pop star.

Earlier this week, an executive at Republic Records confirmed Weeknd was planning to hit the studio with Daft Punk. "Well actually, we have a session coming up in two days with the Weeknd and Daft Punk, and I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan,” said Wendy Goldstein, VP and head of urban A&R at Republic. Goldstein was the same exec to jumpstart Weeknd's pop stardom with his Ariana Grande collab "Love Me Harder." That song became the start of a working relationship between the Toronto singer and pop producer extraordinaire Max Martin, who eventually worked heavily on Beauty Behind the Madness. Hopefully the studio session with Weeknd and Daft Punk will result in the same kind of pop magic.

The above snippet, however, might be the result of a collab with Cashmere Cat, who worked with Kanye West on "Wolves" and G-Eazy on "Drifting." The cat emoji that Weeknd captioned the snippet with seems to hint at Cashmere being on production.
