The 2017 Video Music Awards are going down in California later this month, and we're finally getting some details on what we can expect from this year's ceremony. MTV has announced The Weeknd is slated to take the stage to perform at the awards show, so we're sure all of his fans will be tuning in.

Not only is the Starboy singer going to perform this year, but his music video for his "Reminder" record is also nominated in the Video of the Year category, potentially making this a monumental evening for him. More announcements about the performance lineup for the 2017 MTV VMAs will be coming in the near future, with artists and entertainers gearing up to appear at the show on Aug. 27.

Along with the announcement of The Weeknd being a performer, MTV also unveiled two new promo videos to coincide with the awards, with the first showing host Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony and Lorde, and the second displaying The Weeknd, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and Shawn Mendes.

The "Feel It Coming" vocalist has seen a huge amount of success in the last year, and he just landed his 100th consecutive week on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his previous album, Beauty Behind the Madness. He also just dropped a remix to "Reminder" with A$AP Rocky and Young Thug.

Check out the new promotional videos for the VMAs below, and tune in to see The Weeknd perform on Aug. 27.
