Today (June 27), Tory Lanez pays a visit to Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning. Early on in the 20-minute interview, Lanez discusses his competitive mentality in the game. The New Toronto rapper specifically mentions Drake and states that he wants to take his crown as the biggest name in hip-hop.

The 23-year-old rhymer explains that there will never be a personal problem between himself and Drizzy; in his view, this is music, and he's allowed to compete any way he sees fit. Lanez says, "I think people have to look at it from a certain view. I say things, because at the end of the day, I can say whatever I want. This is music. People have this [outlook] about hip-hop as if hip-hop is not a contact sport ... At the end of the day, there's never going to be a personal problem, 'cuz I don't know that man. It's just one of those situations where, the only thing that's ever going to lie in between us is that we can't share first place. And I'm the only guy that's bold enough to really come and take that right now."

He continues, "I'm here to compete. I'm here to be number one. I'm here to be the greatest. And anybody standing in the way -- whether it's [Drake] or anybody -- it's gotta go the way it's gotta go, and I'm not gonna stop until I get that."

Lanez makes it clear that being a fan of Drake's music doesn't mean he's not coming for that top spot. He tells Ebro, "I said I was a fan of his music before. No one's ever took that from him. That doesn't mean that I'm not here to take that crown. What do you think this is? What, do you think I'm here to be second place, brother?"
