Town of Mamou Pulling Together To Install Air Conditioning In Gymnasium

The town of Mamou is coming together to help provide air conditioners to the high school gymnasium. Mamou High School is the only high school in Evangeline Parish that does not have an air conditioning system in it's gym, and now the locals want to do something about this inconvenience.

The community is coming together in hopes of providing some relief for those that utilize the gymnasium on a regular basis.

The project will be very expensive, but it has not stopped those within the town of Mamou from already making donations. A GoFundMe account has already been set up and they hope to raise as much money as possible so that the project can get going.

According to KATC, the Evangeline Parish School Board has pledged to match funds raised by the community once they reach a certain amount. The project itself could cost as much as $400,000.

Speaking from personal experiences in this gym, it gets HOT in that building during the summer time. I played four years of basketball in this gymnasium and during the summer it was dangerously hot in there. I hope that the city, the school board, and all of Acadiana gets behind this drive---It past time.
