The National Weather Service in New Orleans says that Tropical Storm Debby has formed over the Eastern Gulf Of Mexico, and the storm is expected to track slowly westward over the next few days.

KATC-TV 3 Meterologist Natalie Noah tells KPEL that the Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from the mouth of the Pearl River westward to Morgan City, but that does not include New Orleans or Lake Ponchatrain.  Right now it is about 220 miles South-Southeast of the Mississippi River and it is traveling at North at six miles an hour.  The wind speed right now is 50 miles per hour.  It will produce strong winds and high tides.

The National Weather says Tropical Storm Debby will have to deal with possible coastal flooding impact along the Southeast Louisiana coast.  The storm is possibly going to track more westward over the next few days and may have an impact for us in south central Louisiana.  It may only strengthen marginally.
