Lafayette Parish Sheriff's investigators say they have booked former Knight Oil Tools employee Russell Manual into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

Manual was booked with the following:

  • Criminal conspiracy
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of Lortabs
  • Possession of methadone
  • Extortion
  • Intimidating a witness

Manual's bond has been set at $100,000

Manual was one of three people arrested, accused in an alleged plot to have Mark Knight's brother, Brian, arrested for drug possession, as part of a conspiracy.

Also, Mark Knight, arrested earlier this week for racketeering, is out as Chairman of the board, and is no longer a member of the board of directors of Knight Oil Tools.

That's according to a statement made by current President and CEO Earl Blackwell to ABiz.

Mark Knight, who used to be the CEO of Knight Oil Tools, turned himself in Tuesday on the racketeering charge.

Corey Jackson, a state trooper and Jason Kinch, a Lafayette Sheriff's deputy were also arrested in connection with the case.

Brian Knight was arrested in June of 2014, but after more investigation investigators say it was the alleged conspiracy that led to his arrest.

From statements Manual made to detectives, he confirmed that Mark Knight paid or arranged payment of more than $100,000 in cash or gifts to Manual, Deputy Kinch, and Trooper Jackson to have Brian Knight arrested on drug charges.
