The Lady Cajuns Softball Team has moved one step closer to the World Series as they defeated Arizona State, 6-0, in the first game of the best-of-three NCAA Super Regional at Farrington Stadium. The Lady Cajuns will now play the third-seeded Sun Devils (49-9) today, Friday, and need to win one of two possible games to advance to the College World Series.

UL co-head coach Michael Loteif said, "It’s a long way to Oklahoma City and we are a long way from getting there.  I know that tomorrow is going to be another battle and that we are going to have to come out and fight for every pitch and for every out."

While temperatures are soaring in Arizona this week, it did not slow down the red hot Cajuns at the plate. The Cajun's bats were hot as UL pounded out a dozen hits, including home runs by Paige Cormier and Sarah Draheim. The road to the College World Series can be heard on our sister station ESPN 1420AM

We would like to wish the coaches and players the best of luck in the Super Regional. You have all made us very proud and know that all of Lafayette is behind you.
