The 21st-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns wrapped-up a very successful Easter weekend on Saturday afternoon at Lamson Park.

Louisiana completed a Sun Belt Conference series sweep of South Alabama, defeating the Jaguars, 3-2.

The match-up represented the final game of a three-game, weekend, conference series.

The Cajuns completed the series sweep, after taking both ends of a Friday doubleheader, defeating South Alabama in the opener, 7-1, before also taking the nightcap, 5-4, in 8 innings.

The win, and the series sweep, also extends UL's modest win streak to three games.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, scoring a run in the bottom half of the first inning, when Brittany Rodriguez opened the frame with a leadoff single, before later scoring on a run-scoring triple off the bat of Beth Ashley, to give them a quick 1-0 lead.

The Cajuns added another run in the bottom half of the second inning, when Kara Gremillion doubled, scoring Kelli Martinez, to extend their lead to 2-0.

UL widened their lead in the bottom half of the third inning, when Casidy Chaumont doubled with one out, before scoring on a single off the bat of Kourtney Gremillion, to make it 3-0.

South Alabama scored their only runs of the contest in the top half of the 6th inning, plating two runs on two hits, including a bases loaded walk by Brittani Reid, and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Kristian Foster, to trim the deficit to 3-2.

That was as close as the Jaguars would get however, as the Cajuns held on for the one-run victory, and the three-game series sweep.

Louisiana, who outhit South Alabama, 11-3, was paced at the plate by Rodriguez, Martinez, and Kara Gremillion, who collected two hits apiece, while Kara Gremillion, Ashley, and Kourtney Gremillion were credited with runs batted in.

Summer Ellyson (12-4), who started the game, and then reentered to finish it, recorded the win in the circle for the Cajuns, her third victory of the series, allowing only one hit over 6.2 shutout innings, while striking out six batters.

Alexis Reid (7-8) suffered the loss for the Jaguars, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits over 2.1 innings of work.
