Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun softball team continues postseason play on Friday, when they travel to Auburn, Alabama to take on the Auburn Tigers in the first game of a best-of-3 game Super Regional series..

First-pitch is scheduled for 1 o’clock, and you can hear all three games on ESPN 1420 & espn1420.com beginning with the pre-game show at 12:45 pm.

Game two is slated for Saturday at 11 am, with an if necessary game scheduled for 2 o'clock on Saturday.

Louisiana, the #13 overall national seed, won the regular season Sun Belt Conference title, and is in postseason play for the 25th time in the last 26 years.

The Cajuns, who are currently 42-10 on the season, will be appearing in their fourth-consecutive Super Regional Series, including their fifth in the last six years, and sixth in the last eight years.

Louisiana will be looking to qualify for a return trip to the Women’s College World Series, after appearing their last season, the sixth time in program history.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .346, along with 112 home runs, 385 runs batted in, and 64 stolen bases in 74 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 426-122.

The 112 homers they’ve belted as a team this season are a school record, eclipsing the previous record set back in 2006.

Junior catcher Lexie Elkins has hit 31 home runs this season, a new school record, while driving home 81 runs.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.14, compared to a 8.50 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .183 batting average against.

Auburn, who qualified for their first-ever Super Regional last weekend, by winning the Auburn, Alabama Regional last weekend, is the #4-national seed, and will enter with an overall record of 52-9, and champions of the SEC Tournament.

The Tigers are hitting a .346 as a team, along with 95 home runs, 440 runs driven in, and 25 stolen bases in 29 attempts, while out-scoring opponents, 490-212.

In the circle, Auburn currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 3.47, while holding opponents to a .247 batting average against.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
