The 10th-ranked Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun softball team continues postseason play on Friday afternoon, when they take on the 23rd-ranked South Alabama Jaguars in the finals of the winners bracket in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in San Marcos, Texas.

First-pitch is scheduled for 1 o’clock, and you can hear all three games on ESPN 1420 & espn1420.com beginning with the pre-game show at 12:45 pm.

This will be the first game of the third day of the tournament, which is a double-elimination format, after four single-elimination games were played on the first day, along with two games in the double-elimination bracket on the second day.

Louisiana won two of three games from South Alabama during the regular season, defeating the Jaguars by scores of 3-2 and 9-3, before suffering an 8-5 defeat.

The Cajuns, the regular season conference champions, and the top-seed in the event, are currently 38-8, overall, after defeating Georgia St., 8-1 on Thursday in their first game in the tournament.

Offensively, Louisiana is hitting a .354, along with 101 home runs, 356 runs batted in, and 58 stolen bases in 68 attempts, while out-scoring foes, 395-109.

The 101 homers they’ve belted as a team this season are one shy of the school record, which was set back in 2006.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns sport an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.20, compared to a 8.89 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .183 batting average against.

South Alabama, the second-seed in the tournament, will enter the match-up with an overall record of 36-10, following a 6-2 win over ULM on Thursday night.

The Jaguars are hitting a .308 as a team, along with 36 home runs, 207 runs driven in, and 52 stolen bases in 58 attempts, while out-scoring opponents, 254-141.

In the circle, South Alabama currently has an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.65, while holding opponents to a .218 batting average against.

The winner moves onto the finals on Saturday at 1 o’clock, while the loser will have to turn right back around play an elimination game at 5 pm on Friday, with a trip to the finals at stake.
