About a week ago, we reported that that the UL football program would be placing a decal on their football helmets for the 2012 football season in honor of UL student Mickey Shunick. Now, courtesy of KATC-TV 3, we have our first look at the decal.

The decal which is placed on the back of the helmet is that of a young lady on a bike. The decal is synonymous with a photo Mickey took while on her bike. UL football coach Mark Hudspeth approved of the idea of putting this decal on the helmets, and now Mickey will forever be part of the 2012 UL football season.

Mickey Shunick was abducted and murdered by Brandon Scott Lavergne on May 19th, and her body was later recovered on Aug. 7th behind a secluded graveyard in Evangeline Parish.

The Cajuns will debut this decal on the field Saturday, September 1st, as they take on the Lamar Cardinals in their season open at Cajun Field.
