After several months of practicing, and weeks of uncertainty if they would even make it to New York City, UL's "Pride Of Acadiana" Marching Band has arrived in New York for the annual Thanksgiving Macy's Day Parade. They are one of only TEN bands in the country invited to march in the parade, with almost 400 total bands applying for the honor.

At one point there was some concern that the band would not be able to afford the trip to New York City, but thanks to a few successful fundraisers and private contributions, UL is in the "Big Apple!!" It was estimated that it would cost each band member $1500 to attend the parade, and the University was even hit with a $16,000 bill to cover a fuel surcharge for the Boeing 767 jet airliner that has been chartered to take the band to New York City.

Well after a few minor set-backs, we can report that the "Pride Of Acadiana" has made it to New York and they will indeed be marching in one of the most anticipated parades of the year. We here at Hot 107-9 want to take this time to not only congratulate the entire UL Marching Band, but we also want to say THANK YOU for representing all of Louisiana while in New York City.

This is the second time UL's marching band performs in the Macy's Day Parade. The band last visited New York City in 2005. The parade airs Thursday, November 22nd, from 9am - Noon on NBC.
