Sean Payton responded to the fact that Jamaal Charles will be visiting his team.

As I'm sure you're well aware by now, the Saints will be without  one of their running threats in Mark Ingram for the first four games of the regular season.

Veteran running back Jamaal Charles, who has 10 years in the league with over 7,500 rushing yards, and 91 rushing touchdowns to his name, is set to visit New Orleans on Wednesday (6/13).

Sean Payton says this is pretty standard, and doesn't mean that there are any roster moves to be made.

"If we worked anyone out here in the next few days it would be just to see what kind of shape they're in, see how they're doing," Payton said. "It doesn't preclude us from signing someone. It's pretty normal."

The Saints had a former member of the team, Tim Hightower, that visited Tuesday (6/12). And Payton has said that they would absolutely consider bringing back Adrian Peterson if that position needed filling.

Of course, without Ingram, Alvin Kamara takes the role of featured back. Other running backs on the Saints roster with limited experience in the league include Trey Edmunds and Jonathan Williams, and 2018 sixth-round draft pick Boston Scott.
