12 Dead in Aftermath of Movie Theater Shooting in Aurora, Colorado
A shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, CO left at least 12 dead and dozens more were injured after a gunman opened fire at a midnight showing of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ last night.
A 24-year-old suspect has been arrested and his apartment cordoned off as police squads search for possible explosives at the residence.
Witnesses reported a gas canister was released just before shots were fired inside the theater, just after 12:30 AM MDT. The suspect was reportedly wearing a gas mask and was clad entirely in black.
UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as a local Aurora resident named named James Holmes.
Video taken at the scene shows dazed moviegoers – some covered in blood – walking out of the theater just after the shooting. Watch the video below. Warning: It’s not for the faint of heart.
