The day has finally arrived for smartphone users anxiously awaiting the unveiling of Vine for Android. Twitter officially announced the release of their six second video app to Android's Google Play market.

Five months after its release to iPhone, Vine will now be available to DROID owners running Android 4.0 or higher, but the Android version won't be exactly the same. Some of the bells and whistles unveiled in Vine for iPhone's most recent update including access to the front-facing camera, push notifications, the introduction of hashtag and mention features, and searching for both people and tags, won't be available in the initial Android release, however they will be coming soon.
