This is what the future of space travel will look like. 2014 might be the first year ordinary people will space travel, and they will do it in the Virgin Galactic 'Space Ship Two' a.k.a., the 'SS2.' Check out the video and see how it works.

In this video, it shows the SS2 from take off to landing. It's so cool how it works. At 52,000 feet the carrier releases the spaceship, and its own rockets send it to 62 miles above the Earth. Just knowing that the SS2 will bring 6 passengers to the edge of space, or what they call suborbital space, is beyond something we have ever dreamed of. Note: the 6 passengers will be weightless for 3 hours with no bathroom, which is a challenge all in itself.

This is the SS2's third successful flight. The CEO of Virgin Galactic George Whitesides says:

"Today's flight is another resounding success" and "We focused on gathering more transonic and supersonic data, and our chief pilot, Dave, handled the vehicle beautifully. With each flight test, we are progressively closer to our target of starting commercial service in 2014."

You read that right, starting commercial service in 2014. This is huge news. I wonder which celebrity will ride it first? I heard every one from Justin Bieber to Kanye West wants to ride it. I guess we'll see some time this year. It will be a pretty big deal. This is just my opinion, this only benefits the wealthy. Maybe I'm just thinking out loud, but how does this benefit anyone else but people that can afford it? All in all, it's still really cool.
