What’s Your Favorite Weird Food Combination?
I enjoy some of the weird food combinations that I've tried, but the one I saw last night took me by surprise.
When I was younger, I really enjoyed my mom's spaghetti. One time when we were having spaghetti, she made a coleslaw (not creamy, but vinegar-based) and I happened to get a piece of cabbage in a bite of my spaghetti. The combination of those two pleasantly surprised my palate, and so I piled more cabbage onto my spaghetti and my personal weird food combination journey began.
McDonald's fries dipped into a Wendy's Frosty. Lay's Wavy Barbecue potato chips in a ham sandwich. Corn on pizza. Peanut butter on a hot dog (I've heard of peanut butter on a hamburger).
I reached out to a few friends and asked for their weird combinations. Here were there replies:
Dana said that if she has rice and gravy on her plate, she MUST mix in the vegetable with which it's served (I do that, especially with corn. Also, rice dressing mixed with baked beans!). She shared with me that her mom enjoyed peanut butter, banana and MIRACLE WHIP sandwiches (I'll pass on that offer, just as soon as these dry heaves pass).
Dawn mixes her rice dressing, potato salad, and baked beans together.
Emily shared a few: ketchup and mustard on her macaroni salad. She dips her fries in mayonnaise, eats her tacos with a spoon after mashing them to pieces in a bowl, and pours milk into her ice cream and eats it like soup.
Last night, at dinner, Dana did this:
Cheetos and mustard. Simple, right? But, is it good? (I couldn't force myself to try them for 2 reasons: 1) I'm not a big fan of plain mustard, and 2) Cheetos are not one of my favorite snacks). Obviously, Dana thinks so!
What about you? What's your favorite weird food combination?
