A beloved Acadiana dance spot is unexpectedly closing its doors for good.

Whiskey River in Henderson has been a popular Cajun and Zydeco dance spot for decades. The owners announced their decision to shut down permanently after this Sunday's Labor Day celebration with Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie.

We here at Whiskey River regret to inform you all that we have come to the decision that it is in our family's best interest to close our doors for good.

This was, by all means, not an easy decision but with such monumental tragedies that we have recently had to process and face, it is best that we part ways permanently. There is so much to be said regarding this announcement, and in saying that we ask that you refrain from bombarding us with questions of concern and curiosity. Please respect that we are extremely busy handling business now and will have even more time to address all of that in the future.

Moving forward...

This means that our LAST "normal" Whiskey River Sunday Funday will be THIS SUNDAY, September 2, 2018, for our regularly scheduled Labor Day Celebration with Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie. To those of you who have planned on joining us in the future for Sunday Fundays on the levee, this is your last chance! To those of you who have missed us, please come by and see us now! And to those of you who have continued to grace us with your presence consistently on Sundays, we will see you Sunday!
