Woman Thought Bad Writing On Cake Was “Funny,” Until She Realized Who Wrote It

This may be one of the best examples of how a little bit of kindness can go a long way.

Lisa Aldrich picked out a cake out in the bakery department of Meijer, her local grocery store. She asked a "bakery-looking-employee" to put her birthday message on the cake. The worker obliged, and after a long spell of time passed she finally returned and presented the woman with her cake.

Without even examining the cake, Lisa looked the employee in the eye, thanking her for her help. When she finally looked at the cake, she laughed to herself realizing the worker did a pretty horrible job—but the writing was so bad, Lisa figured that by keeping it, at least people would think it was funny.

And then she found out who actually wrote on her cake.

The cashiers at the self check out didn't think it was so funny though, and called a few more cashiers and a manager over to look, even taking pictures. To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said "the girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her- even though she's not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day." So I guess the moral of the story is that kindness is important!

So go out and be kind today—you never know who's day you might be making!
