Memphis Woman Thwarts Home Invasion, Fights Off Intruder With Machete [VIDEO]

A Memphis woman was the victim of an attempted break in, but refused to go down without a fight, cutting the intruder with a machete.

Cheryl Nibley described the situation when she heard someone trying to break into her home,

I grabbed the machete and my phone and I got out of my bedroom. Then I heard a rip in my screen, so I raised up and I got my phone and I called 911. And I was telling her that someone was breaking in the house right then.

This wasn't the first time Nibley's house had been broken into. Just a few weeks prior, someone broke into her home and stole all the televisions inside. That explains why this time when she heard the would-be intruder, she ran into the room with machete in hand and—as you see her demonstrate in the video—started "chopping."

When I saw the top of the head come through [the window] and I got in there and started chopping with my machete and I chopped him on the head. He jumped back out the window, and he ran around the corner to the neighborhood,

Nibley says she believes she would have caught the intruder, but as she ran after him she realized she was naked and went back inside to put clothes on. When she went back out to chase him the police were already on the scene.

Police searched the area on foot and by helicopter but were unsuccessful, but we're willing to bet this criminal won't be returning to Nibley's home anytime soon.

By the looks of that rusty machete I sure hope he got some medical treatment.
