Beware of a scam that is circulating in the Iberia Parish area.

Major Wendell Raborn says that scammers are using a number that appears to be local to get $600 out of people who may not be aware that it's all fake.

You may receive an automated call informing you that you have missed a court date. The automation goes on to claim that a local judge issued a warrant for your arrest, but it's all fake.

The scammers use a local number and the name of a local judge, but it's all bogus.

Never give out any information to someone who calls you asking for money whether it is an automated call or not.

If you think there is a warrant for your arrest, you should call the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-369-3714 to check it out.

Don't give away your hard earned money, and if you think you have been a victim of this scam please call to report the incident to the Sheriff's Office at 337-369-3711.
